Feel free to email me your questions and I will post them here with a response.
Where do you get your ideas?
I have always been the kind of person who writes down every crazy idea that flits into my head. I keep a notebook and pen on me at all times (in my purse, in the car, next to the bed). Any time I see something interesting, absurd or funny I write it down. You never know when it will make for a good scene in a book. The moment right before I drift off to sleep seems to be an inspirational time. I think it’s because the brain starts to settle down and makes room for imagination to take over.
What is your favorite thing about being a writer?
Besides working in my jammies if I feel like it, the flexibility it gives me. Working from home is terrific when you have children. The down side is the solitary nature of the work. A writer needs to make an effort to get out and be with people.
What is your favorite book?
I have many favorite books. Pride and Prejudice is my favorite romance. I love all of Jane Austen’s works, and Emma comes in a close second. Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier is my favorite romantic suspense novel. To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee had a huge impact on me as a teenager. I reread it every couple of years and always seem to find something new inside it.
What are you working on now?
I am writing the second book in my C’ville Stories series. The common thread in the series is the location, and not necessarily the characters. It’s very early and I’m still mapping out the trajectory, but it’s going to be a good one. I’m very excited about it.
